Keyword Quality Scores Influenced By Other KW's in AdGroup?

In the post at [webmasterworld.com...] (message 29) AWA explained how a keyword's Quality Score is specific to the way it is used in your individual account. During that explanation, AWA said:

". . . it is not the other keywords in the Ad Group that matter, but the targeting of the keyword in question to the ad(s) in the Ad Group."

That seems to infer that a keyword's QS is not influenced by other keywords in the AdGroup.

I'm wondering how that squares with one of the suggestions in the Help Center page "How Do I Optimize My Ads" at [adwords.google.com...] where it says:

"Delete poorly performing ads and keywords with low clickthrough rates (CTRs) and high minimum bids to improve the Quality Score for your keywords and campaign."

(1) I don't mean to cast doubt on AWA's proven expertise or be argumentative . . . but I would like to clarify whether keyword Quality Scores are or are not influenced by other keywords in the same AdGroup?

(2) And what of the Help Center reference to campaigns? It seems to infer that Quality Scores are also influenced by other kw's in different AdGroups that belong to the same campaign. Is that true?

Thanks in anticipation.

Some good questions.

A friendly *bump* to see if anyone has opinions on these questions.

ztalk112 and eWhisper, I've consulted with others who are smarter than myself, and have learned that keywords in the same Ad Group (or elsewhere in the account) can make a difference.

I'm not able to quantify this 'difference' in terms of the algo - but I can assure it you it will be a lot smaller than the difference created by turning an un-targeted ad/keyword combo into a very targeted ad/keyword combo.

In other words, the targeting of the keyword in question to the ad(s) in the Ad Group will much more directly effect the quality score.

Sorry for the confusion ztalk112, and good catch. ;)

Thanks for your reply AWA . . . good to get that cleared up in respect of AdGroup KWs.

Did they offer up any words of wisdom in respect of the second question . . . the effect at the Campaign level?

Thanks in anticipation.

Sorry ztalk112, I didn't see this till now -- and I guess I was not clear earlier.

In my previous post when I said "...keywords in the same Ad Group (or elsewhere in the account) can make a difference", I was referring to your second question.

So, yes, it can apply at the campaign level as well. My other comment still applies, though, and the targeting of the keyword in question to the ad(s) in the Ad Group will much more directly effect the quality score.

Cheers AWA.

My fault . . . nothing wrong with your reply.

Apologies.
