Listing in the US when UK is the only audience

Is it worthwhile?

If I want to push something that only UK people want, is it worth including the US in the countries I show the ads to?

The only reason I ask is I read somewhere or made up the fact that Google can't tell that AOL people are UK people and shows the US results?

So did I make that up during my sleep?

TIA

Ben.

To get syndicated results you need to have a clickthrough rate of over 1%, it's because of this that many advertisers see a surge in their traffic once they hit that level. AOL only take the feeds once you have a sustained clickthrough rate of more than that level.

If your intended audience is only UK I'd be inclined to only show to the UK. AOL will show your ads no problem, if you include the US the relevancy will be less, and so will the CTR, you ould well find yourself below 1% anyway, so in trying to show your ad to AOL users, you could be barring yourself from their view anyway (if it was an issue).

Hope that helps.
