Possible indication of fraudulant clicking?

Redirection header ignored by user-agent

The target URL for my Adwords campaign is a PHP redirection script, for example:

This script sends a cookie header (for my tracking purposes), and then serves a redirection using the PHP code:

header("Location: [mydomain.com");...]

This works fine, most of the time. However, starting about a month ago, i've started to see a number of requests come through from Adwords and NOT follow the redirection.

OK I thought, there's some broken UA out there has forgotten how to follow 302 redirection. So I made the redirection script send a "If you are not automatically redirected, click here" message.

This message makes no difference.

So it makes me think that something, somewhere is clicking my Adwords automatically. It comes in bursts (not over minutes, but hours), from IP addresses all over the World.

Can anyone reason why a redirection would not be followed?

You should definitely contact Google about this and ask them to investigate. Bursts of automated clicks are no joke!

What does GG do to keep this from happening?
