Do promotions and sweepstakes work through Google?

Obviously Google, Overture and the other P4P engines are great direct marketing vehicles - has anyone had any experiences, positive or negative, running promotions or sweepstakes on these venues?

At least for AdWords, you might have some difficulties with promotions/sweepstakes (depending on what type they are) as they may not show up on Google partner pages with ads.
