Can someone please tell me how long it usually takes to get approved for adwords (new account). I want to launch a campaign on Monday and was wondering if I should get it started today. Thanks

As I know, normally 2 business days! If you give them a phone call, then it can be quickly (winthin 24 hours)!

I wanted to add a note of clarification, if I may.
In most cases, once a new advertiser has created their campaign and submitted a credit card to activate the account, the ads will be running on Google in a very short time - usually ranging from a few minutes to a few hours depending on traffic, etc. (There are exceptions to this for ads/keywords that are of a sensitive nature. These will need to be reviewed/approved before running on Google.)
Then, once the ads are reviewed and approved, they may also be sent to the search and/or content networks.
