Hi, I am new to this forum as I have been using Adwords for about 3 weeks now. I am currently helping someone manage their account and am learning so much every day. In addition to that, I have been using the Learning Center and hope to take the exam within a couple months.
We are having a problem with the account. All of the campaigns have the message "Your campaign has reached and exceeded it's daily budget." I cannot see how this is happening as they are all set fairly high.
Please help me!

Have you checked Google's "recommended" budget. I usually set mine higher than the recommendation just to play it safe. I also learned that you can't make changes to your budget (up and down) and expect those changes to take affect immediately. Google told me to give changes up to 24 hours to affect the entire system. Also, take your monthly budget into consideration. If you are close to the end of your monthly billing cycle and you have reached or exceeded your monthly budget then the new monthly budget will start all over at the beginning of the new billing cycle.

Monthly budget? I've never seen any settings for a monthly budget.

There isn't a setting for monthly. Google takes your daily budget and "tries" to make it average out to a monthly amount. If you are going to go "over" for the month (based on your daily budget and reporting period), your ads will slow or stop until your new reporting period has started.

So it would probably be better for me if I disabled the budget optimizer?! Would it be better setting a very high budget? Google seemed to put a cap on the account. Hardly any clicks per day anymore.

What they mean regarding "monthly budget" is on the campaign summary page when the budget optimizer is enabled it actually shows what the monthly budget would be.

Hi ladybossy,

Welcome to Webmasterworld!

I'not familiar with that message, perhaps it's related to the Budget Optimiser. As it's still a long way to go till the end of the month you probably don't want to pause your campaigns all this time.

You say your daily budget is fairly high, but the proper question is: do you reach it almost daily? Set the daily budget (or monthly budget if you insist on using the BO) as high as you're comfortable with, but not higher then that.

Hope it helps!

Hi Hitprof
Thanks. This site has answered alot of questions for me.
I think what I will do is disable the budget Op. and set the budget high. I probably will be posting fairly often, when I have time!
