I am running an ad campaign for a new site of mine. When the ads didn't start running I asked the question and got a response saying that our advert won't run on these keywords due to adult content. Our site has no adult content but does have content relating to "sexy widgets" which are the keywords I'm advertising on
Every other site that is advertising on adwords for the terms I’m proposing is selling similar items, with similar pictures and in some cases some real adult content.
The adverts have been on hold now for 6 days, what am I to do. I have pulled two slightly suspect products (no more suspect than others are selling).
I was advised to advertise using words like XXX but it’s totally totally not what we're selling.
The person on the end of the email says we have full nudes on the site yet we have none, i can only assume they haven’t been to the site!
Please sticky me if you want more info.
Help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated
Cheers,
Hughie
This is of a woman from the rear with a dress on wearing some under garments, very tasteful, not explicit, we can't belive it is being treated as such. We have an ad running in a national newspaper shortly and they allowed the shot so why doesn't google?
Every other site in the sector is running with similar and in many cases much more explicit pictures.
seems to be one rule for some and another rule for others.

I have been informed that my home page image was the problem.
This is really confusing and makes lot of troubles - you can see only the On Hold status and THERE IS NO WAY, YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER KIND OF PROBLEM. So it may easy happen, that you are trying to get rid of On Hold status, but the REAL problem has nothing to do with this!
This might be very "funny". Here is my story (in my case there were no nude pictures or even simillar to it):
I have started a new campaing for a new client, the most of the words went on hold immediately, the ads are very targeted and a knew, the words should generate trafic.I asked the support, why is one of my very targeted phrases On Hold and why there are no impressions for it, he sent a "copy and paste answer" that is wery well known as "make it more relevant".
I answered, please read my e-mail before answering it and tell me, how this phrase can be more relevant, he answered OK, but I can see the impressions for this phrase, there is some delay, wait to see it, too.
After 24 hours I answered - sorry, I do knot know what are you looking on, but there is still 0 impressions. At the end he wrote that some of my keywords were flagged by their system because they required review and approval before they could run.
I can save whole week of "being on emotions" if he would answer properly on my first e-mail. And if there would be a mark "The word is waiting for a review" the life would be great!
Now are people trying to solve On Hold problem, but if the word / phrase is waiting for a review, then the status Normal / On Hold has no meaning! One day it is Normal, then 2 days On Hold, then back Normal atc, 0 impressions. But the status has no meaning if the word is waiting for a review!
hughie, if I am correct that this is an approval question, then, really you will need to address it with AdWords support.
No one on this Forum can see or evaluate all the factors at play. My best advice would be to reply directly to the most recent email you've received on the subject, and 'make your case' as succinctly as possible, while covering all the essential details.
As I've said before, it is to everyone's advantage to have your ads running, so long as they are within the policy standards.
So, if you feel a disapproval has been made in error, let us know. If we were mistaken, we'll apologize and get you running. And, if we were not mistaken, and there is in fact a problem, then we'll try explaining another way so that it makes sense, and you'll know what to do to get running.

This is SOOOOOO true! Especcially when you've tried to describe a problem extensively. Very often you get a simple standard answer that either suggests the solution you already tried, or is related to one or two words in your mail but not to your problem.
Yesterday was "such a day" with one response regarding the wrong page and another one regarding a wrong account (!) within the same MCC.
Dave741, the way I read it, this is purely an approval issue, and is completely unrelated to keywords being 'on hold' or 'in trial'.
AWA NO!
I was solving the On Hold Problem with the support for a week!
And THEN I found out, that this is not "On Hold problem" but "review problem", because the ad was using the brand name.
IF I would know, that the phrase is waiting for review, I could sleep weel those nights and did not ask the support about On Hold problem!
The hughie wrote, that the adverts have been on hold for 6 days. He has no chance to know, that this is not an "On Hold problem", because the only thing he could see was "ON HOLD STATUS" OF HIS KW.
My recomendation is MAKE REVIEW PROCES TRANSPARENT. Then the users will know why there are no impressions and will save their time and also the time of suuport persons.
I am currently in the process of getting it approved, i have made a minor amend to the "offending" graphic so i'm hoping that will hit the approval button.
It seems to take 3-4 hours for one email response so it is a very slow process. hopefully tomorrow it will be sorted.
I have given a series of examples as to other sites that are much closer to the mark than i am so if anyone drops off adwords, don't blame me ;-)
If the site doesn't get the approval now then its out the window with the PC and fast track to join the foreign legion. Kurtz here i come!

The problem is not an on hold one for me, all my keywords are displaying as "normal" they are even running but in very small amounts
top keyword
sexy widgets Normal £0.70 7 113 6.1% £0.41 £2.82 1.6
The estimate for that is is around 40 clicks a day, every time i type it i get zilch.
so it is showing but only very occasionally. My adwords spend is £70 a day so its not that......

If your ads are running, sounds as if at least some keywords are approved...
Your quote above actually does sound a lot like a low daily budget issue, hughie. Have you checked your recommended budget for the campaign? Sounds as if you might be in a pretty competitive (read: comparatively expensive) area, in which even £70 would not ensure full delivery.
If your recommend budget is higher than your actual budget, there is a very good chance your ads will not be showing 24/7, even if your daily budget is not being met. And BTW, the higher your Max CPC the fewer clicks will be anticipated to 'fit' within a given daily budget.

a minor change to a graphic was approved and a speedy result acheived in the end. total time was 1 week start to finish. Would have been made much easier had the initial problem with the site been given to me after first contact rather than 5 days beating around the bush.
cheers,
hughie
Anyway, transparency (the lack of it) seems to be G's biggest problem.
As many others have asked, it would be very nice to have some messages coming from G about the account's and KWs' status (is in review, denied for what reason, etc), at least how "Disapproved Ads" works.
