Very surprised, I can get money from AdSense, but so far I cannot find ways to give money to AdWords. Last night, I signed up my AdWords account, everything seems okay at the first stage, but something happened, I found the famous "promotional code" field.

I tried research on google to find it out, sure enough-I found a webpage from google.com, typing my name and email address then waiting for the "code", meanwhile I found another "code" from a personal blog page. So I used that blog "code".

Later I got a network/server problem with the connection to adwords, after that, I logged again into my AdWords, I found "promotional code not correct".

So I want to check my email inbox to wait that "promotional code" from google marketing depart. after 8-10 hours still nothing comes.

Then I decided to forget about "code" and complete my registration with billing information. Opps, after I filled everything I got "Card Declined", then I double check the info I typed in, and even called my Visa Card issuing bank, also in good condition with good credit and not any failed process record from my bank.

So I wrote to adWords, if you have ever contacted with them, with no doubt, yes- I get "auto-generated email".

Also I read every pages I could found from WW and other blogs about "Card Declined", there is no clue.

Hi, zhenghua,

I am sure, you are chinese. We are in the same boat. I just created another adwords account for my client, and found "card declined" information.

Then I use my another new card, but get the same error message.

Maybe it is a glitch of Google AdWords. Is there anyone meet this kind of thing?

I am frustrated at this!

Thanks hotice_2002.

Updated, I got a REAL man's reply with "I have escalated this issue to our technical team. They're currently investigating the situation, and we'll contact you as soon as we've found a resolution. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience."

Meanwhile, I think maybe because I chose WRONG currency at the first stage, and after I realized, it could not be changed at the current version of AdWords.

Then I wrote to adwords to cancel that account first, then apply an new Adwords account.

And I choose USD as my currency at this time, since my VISA credit card can pay us dollars. Something still wrong, I still get declined info, and "Note: We were unable to process your last payment. Your account is still open; however, your ads have been paused until you update your billing information. Once we are able to process your outstanding balance, your ads will begin running again." again.

I just want to run my ad(s) as soon as possible, who can help me out?

I give Google a phone call this morning. But no reply by now.

We met this kind of thing about 6 months ago. And google spend one week to resolve this problem. All Ad accounts paused and affected our 400 adwords cusomters at that time. Very disappointed!

Updated, I recontacted my bank, I found I caused the problem, (1) I chose wrong currency at the first account, it should be USD; (2) I typed wrong "VAILD THRU" date, 0x/0y, means Year 200y Month0x in my card, but I thought it was Year 200x Month 0y, then the card locked!

Sorry all, I think everything will be fixed within 12 hours, my bank told me that, and thank you for your time!

"Your billing preferences were successfully updated." Yes, I saw it. Thank you AdWords! My credit card issue has been successfully resolved.

:) :)

I'm glad it is solved!

After all, not always it's Google's fault! Sometimes it's bank's, sometimes ours.

But, hey, smile! Tomorrow will be worse! (Murphy's law)

Welcome to Adwords! Your nightmare has just begun! (kidding, of course, but read some threads here, you will find very interesting and odd situations)
