Ok...Can someone more experienced with adwords help me understand whats going on....

I have a group of adwords at .14 max bid with an average position of 10.4.

I raised the max bid to .19 amd my average position went to 17.5

Lowerd the bid back to .14 and the average position wentcback to to 10.4

Whats going on here...?

Hey man, you posted the second post ONE MINUTE after the first one! Give the system some time to work on numbers :-)

True, but I had lowered the bid to .13 about 10 minutes before the post. I simply checked right after I submitted my first post.

Now I'm at a .11 bid with a average position of 7.3

Cant wait to get to .05 bid...:)

Heheh. Good idea dave741. Figure roughly an hour between changes, nkny - there are a lot of servers to update.

I think this may be because as you increase your bid, more keywords start showing.

SyrAction, I don't agree with you.
Even if you don't increase your bid, your kws are still there. When you increase your bids, you should be posted higher, thus having a smaller Avg. Pos.

Nkny, what you need to do is what dave and AWA suggested:
test each bid for an enitire day. There is an aaprox 3 hours delay, so tests done only one hour will not be representative.
Keep each maxbid for an entire day and write down the avg.pos, number of impressions and nb of clicks.

It would also be fine if you don't use Content (at least for these tests), because you could easily get a huge number of impressions from content, that would decisively influence your avg pos.

Good luck and keep us posted with updates.

What I meant was - As you increase your bid more keywords can start showing, which never showed at all before and wouldn't have show any position at all.

Well I let .10 go all night and it did go up from low 7 to 7.8 today.

these ads have .8 ctr. only 565 impressions So I cant see them getting better placement due to CTR...

Will do some more testing and let you guys know..
