I am new to adwords but I always read before I ask, so execuse me if my question seemed stupid.

I grabbed the conversion tracking code as is, and placed it in my thankyou page, however I cannot see the text box where it should appear. Is the text box only shown for visitors that are drived by an adwords ad?

Assuming no, I get orders with or without adwords nor any other advertising campaign (so using cross-channels coversion is not an option). If every visitor, drived or not drived by an adwords ad, hit the thankyou page after a successful purchase, would it be calculated as conversions? If so, how can we differentiate between conversions drived by adwords ad and those which drived by anything else (searching engine traffic, etc..)?

Note that the question in bold is the most critical question here.

Yes, the text box only shows when an adwords ad drove the customer there. This can be verified in Google's Learning Center in the following section:

Account Analysis > Basic ROI/Conversions > Basic Conversion Tracking
Am I allowed to drop the URL for this on-line training section here? I thought it was an absolute "no", but I just saw it done elsewhere.

you're the man!
Also, the Google learning center [google.com] is fantastic and full of informations in comparison to Google Adwords support.
Where was Google hiding that?

URL links to the Google training center, Google FAQs, etc are allowed.
