Adwords Affiliate Program

I saw a thread recently about Google's new affiliate program for Adwords and Adsense which pays you $20 per active referral. I went to the link I had bookmarked today, with the intent of signing up, but it said that the program is by invite only. Anybody using the program and know how to get the invite?

I think you have to first sign up to be invited on the list. I've signed up, but haven't heard back from them yet (other than "we got your application, we'll let you know if we have an opening").

Maybe they ought to give $20 to AdSense publishers when someone signs up for AdWords through the "Ads by Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle" link...?

I read the details on the referral program, but I do have a question:

Is this just a straight referral, or is there an incentive from Google to get people to sign up? (Like a $5 credit to new AdWords customers to get them started?)

I don't expect Google to give, give, give, but it seems like it would be easier to get people to sign up if they could see how well the program would work for them (I was sold after watching my logs the first two days), and it would be easier to refer people by offering them the $5 credit for new accounts.

BriCuy, thanks for mentioning that you got a confirmation email. I filled out the form, but it seemed to keep refreshing the same page. I didn't receive an email acknowledging that the application was received, either, so it must not have gone through.
