The old google adwords layout is back

The adwords is using a background color

I don't know if they are testing or if it's here to stay, but the old adwords layout is back.

If I remember, the ROI was higher with that layout, so it's good news.

Almost certainly the case, pmkpmk. In this instance, I had not even heard of it myself. I've done a bunch of searches and have not been able to duplicate your results, NoCarrier. ;)

Hmmmm.. Maybe someone pressed the wrong button this morning. The layout is back to what it was. Oh well. Strange.

3 months ago I saw the 'old' layout also (in the Netherlands) for a few ours and after that no more.

I think G's testing click behaviour.

I also would like to see the background colors return. I'm sure they had a better ROI. And should have been better for Google. Never understood why they changed.

Maybe a lot of users were complaining about "too many ads."

We all know that without the different colored background, the majority of searchers don't even know they are ads.

I just saw it as well when experimenting with some Google Local searches. I wonder if they aren't stepping up the testing, looking for a few more $ for the shareholders.

I found the green ads again - on Google Answers [answers.google.com].

And - yes - I liked the layout much better!

That's how [local.google.com...] is laid out as well.

Seems Google always colors the boxes if they're on top to separate them out.

The ads on local.google.com are a purplish/mauve shade here, not green as I saw them on answers (tried "pizza" in "herndon, va").
