I'm new here, and frustrated with Google Ad Words. I hate the navigation! Now to my question. I want to change the text to an ad I posted yesterday. I've read their help on it, and it simply doesn't make sense:
-Log in to your AdWords account.
-Click the campaign that contains the Ad Group you want to edit.
-Click the appropriate Ad Group.
-Locate the appropriate ad above or below the keyword table.
-Click Edit below the ad.
(NOTE*****THIS IS WHERE THEY LOSE ME. WHERE DOES IT SAY "EDIT" BELOW THE AD?!)
I can edit everything else accept the text. I find no place to edit the text of the ad. In fact I can't even see the Ad I wrote, anywhere.
This is just the beginning of a litany of questions for what I consider a poorly designed tool, but can anyone help?
However, if you only have one ad, it will be above your keywords, and I will assume you can see it. To the right of the add should be a text link that says "edit". Click on it. It should take you to a place where you can edit the text of the ad. Just keep in mind that if you change anything, your ad will go to the editorial department at Google before it is included on the content network again.
Hope this helps.
-I click on Campaign # 1
-I click on the name of my ad.
Then I see my keywords. I see buttons such as:
Current maximum CPC: CAD $0.25 [edit]
Feb 3, 2005
Tools: Filter Keywords¦Add Keywords¦Edit Keywords¦ Keyword Tool
Create New Text Ad ¦ Image Ad
Delete / Edit CPCs/URLS
ETC.... ETC....sorry I don't see anywhere where I can simply "edit" the text of my ad, which I can't seem to locate.

It sounds like you've got more than one advert in that adgroup. In that case, the edit link is *right* at the bottom of the page - below all your keywords - just where you won't find it :)
And yes, I've been stumped by this before. And I agree, the interface takes a bit of getting used to. Hope this helps.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, punditman!
Hey, it sounds to me as if you may have inadvertently deleted your ad. This happens sometimes, especially with advertisers who are sort of learning the ropes, when they are attempting to delete keywords. They just hit the wrong button.
So, if you are simply not able to find any ad at all (and assuming you are in the Ad Group level of your account) sounds like it is time to create a new ad - using the 'Create New Text Ad' Link mentioned by PeteM.
Hang in there with the navigation, BTW. Pretty soon it will seem like second nature!

Punditman, it just occurred to me that maybe some account navigation resources would make it a little more palatable. I hope these will help:
Account Navigation
[adwords.google.com...]
AdWords Learning Center
[google.com...]
(On the above page, there is a module on Account Navigation under the 'Setting Up an Account' section.)
It'll get easier with practice, I promise you.

Best regards,

I've started from scratch and created a new ad. We'll see what happens....thanx for all the great advice. I will check out the learning centre link and I'm sure I'll be back here too!
