I just received an email from Google. 21 of my ad groups have been shot down. I can't post the email on here but in summary the violation message says:

The display URL and destination URL must agree
You must not simply frame content from a different site
Your landing page can't just be a bridge page with the sole purpose of driving traffic to another site.

The first 2 points were to be expected. The 3rd is the really worrying bit - 99% of the landing pages knocked up in the last month or so will be culled because of that.

Oh well, guess I'd better pull my finger out and start adding value then. doh!

Wow! That's somewhat of a subjective call--the purpose of most affiliate sites is to drive traffic to other sites. The purpose of Google is to drive traffic to other sites, as well. It's pretty clear that they're targeting this at pure copies/doorway pages, but the line may be hard to draw.

Although it would be a big hassle for many, it could definitely force a lot of people to build more useful sites. It'll be interesting to see how well this is enforced, if this truly is their new policy.

They also shut down any display URL containing superlative word even though an acception had been made and accepted.

My affiliate campaigns all go through a TradeDoubler url, and no word this far about them from the AdWords team.

However, my budget is quite small, with only a hundred clicks or so per day.

Still holding on here with my direct to merchant ads. I know it's too much to ask for, and that it doesn't help you much Shaka, but here's hoping it was just an Adwords employee that was having a crappy day, and not a policy implementation.

I'm definitely fallen foul to disgruntled adwords staff taking my ads down for the weakest of reasons, although it's not happened for a while now. Watch me jinx myself now.

shaka,

When did you change or create your new AdGroups and/or new ads with new landing pages?

How long after putting them up before the ax fell?

I'm walking on eggs myself wondering if my landing pages have passed the test yet. I made my changes almost 3 weeks ago. I'm still up and running, but concerned that they just haven't gotten to mine yet.
