Low click-through % on content sites affect search rankings?

Or are the figures kept seperate?

Our adverts are shown contextually on content sites but often receive few clicks. Does this affect ranking in the search results listings? Or are the click-through statistics for content sites kept seperate from those for the search results statistics?

Thank you very much :)

They are separate and low content CTR is not taken into account for search.

Yeah, you basically get free branding if your CTR on content ads are a lot lower than on search ads. It's one of the benefits of the content network.

CTR on content sides can be influenced by many different events.

Imagine a movie web site shows a photo of an actress.

The actress commits suicide.

Many 10.000 fans search in Google for the name, visit the movie web site with the picture, but are really not in the right mood to click on ads.

Is the movie site bad for this?
Should the movie web site be punished for a CTR below 0,1% in this days?
