The reports aren't set up to use a user defined variable, and even if somehow it was tracked - I don't think you'd be able to run a report to find out the stat for the variable.
Google asks that you don't change the code:
[adwords.google.com...]
However, I don't remember (and this doesn't mean it's not there, I just don't remember) agreeing in any TOS not to change the code.
Of course, if Google doesn't like it, they also reserve the right to refuse service or suspend your account until it's fixed.
...I'll put in my $.02 for adding "custom user-specified conversion labels" beyond the four defaults as a feature request since it doesn't seem to be supported. AWA, make it happen, eh? :)
whoisgregg, I was only about 95% certain this was not possible, at present, so I consulted with one of my panel of experts, who confirmed it.
So I took the opportunity to support the idea as one that really makes sense, since I already had him on the line. ;)
And I'll also pass it on to a much larger audience on Thursday, in a weekly Advertiser Feedback report.
