Yes Folks, its true! It has been several years since I last used adwords but I'm back.

quick question: i set my max CPC to $1.00; my reports say that I have been charged an average of $3.45.

how can I have been charged more then my max?

Max CPC $1.00, You've been charged $3.45 for just one click? Or several at a lower price?

I sometimes find Google goes over my daily spend limit (at campaign level) by 5 - 10% sometimes.

Here is my best guess, fashezee, if you're seeing a Avg CPC of $3.45:

You have used this $1.00 Max CPC in an existing Ad Group, which had a higher Max CPC in the past. And you're looking at your stats for a date range that includes those past clicks.

Let us know if that isn't it. ;)

or the campaign level max CPC is set to $1.00 but the individual keyword level CPC is set higher....I think keyword level CPC overrides campaign level CPC...
