When I do a report over a long period including the Ad status field I find on many occasions that Adwords claims the ad is active while it is not at this time. Clearly if this was ment to mean "Was it active somewhere in this period" all would be active (and the feature was useless).

Bug or feature? in any case be carefull with these report results.

I'll look into this a bit, Robsp. Just to clarify, though, can you confirm that you mean ad status, as opposed to keyword status?

If you mean ad status, this would imply that ads, Ad Groups or Campaigns have been paused or deleted - or that the campaign has hit it's end date.

Assuming the above is the case, how long after the pausing, deleting, or ending are you running the reports?

I handed out 35 impressions today in a campaign that was deleted Friday. Check out my "how to close account" topic followup for more info.

I indeed mean ad status and these are ads that were deleted days or months ago and all are in active campaigns and adgroups, nowhere near their end date.

In optimizing muliple ads this can cause quite some confusion.
