Multiple sites in one account

Just to be sure:

1) can I run AdWords for multiple sites from one AdWords account? So far I've always used a new account per client but now I have a bunch of try outs I want to put toghether.

2) I want them to move to a new account (their own) if they continue after the trial. Any complications to be expected?

Yes, you can run multiple sites from the same account.

Problems to be expected:
If one client has a slow account/keywords/etc - and the on hold/on trial is per account - then one client can actually cause other clients not todo as well.

Hey HitProf, in addition to eWhisper's comment, this is also worth being aware of:

At present, there is not a way to 'copy' an 'intact campaign' from one account and 'paste' it into another account.

So, if you were to export a client's campaigns to it's own dedicated account, you'll be starting from scratch in terms of stats, etc.

There is no reason to believe that the stats will be substantially different in the new account, though. But still, I wanted to alert you.

And I'll bet you already knew it. ;)

Oh, and one other thing that you probably already knew:

If the multiple clients (within the same account) are in the same business, and need to run on the same keywords - then only one ad will show at a time, per keyword search.

AWA, you were right about copy/paste, I knew that :) Won't be a problem as they are only small and simple test campaigns. Completely forgot about the one ad only per keyword. So now I have to rethink, perhaps I should give them their own account from the start...

Thanks you both for your input!

Now wondering how many accounts will fit in 1 MCC? Dump account makes place for new one?

Quite a few. 250 sticks in my head - but not sure if that's right or not.

If you have a ton of accounts, you can also use multiple MCCs linked under a master MCC to help organize the accounts.

Now, when they just make the search functions work across multiple MCCs...

lol, hopefully I'm not going to end up with 250 MCC's in my account :))))

AWA, just an idea which also relates to this affiliate update thread: [webmasterworld.com...]

Why not limit this to 1 ad per site per keyword in stead of 1 per account?

Wouldn't that solve the whole problem? OK, you's have to check for (server side) redirects.

It would at least solve my problem, and most of yours :)

Did I misunderstand all along or have the rules changed.

I thought that promoting two different merchants (ie URl's) with similar products to the same keywords in the one account was against the rules.

I've been wanting to try a new product from a new merchant for awhile against an existing one to see which converted best. Then of course if the new one converted better I'd change over to it fully.

Just so that I've got my facts straight and don't end up in the "Pho" here, can I do it from the one account? I thought from reading previouse posts I'd have to open a seperate account etc, and even then it might be a bit risky.

If I can do it from the one account it would be akin to split testing one product against the other which would be great.

Can somebody clarify this for me.

Chernelle,

Inside one account, you can promote 10 different merchants with the exact same keywords. However, only one of those ads will show at a time (one ad shown per account per search done).

So, if you are representing clients, putting different merchants in the same account with the same keywords means you're doing a disservice to them as they aren't getting the exposure they should be (unless you're geo targeting them to different areas).

If you're an affiliate, feel free to promote 10 different merchants with the same keywords and see which one makes you more money.

Thanks a million e Whisper.

I've just a couple of other question in that case..

Do I have to have seperate campaigns for each merchant or can I use the same one.

Is it Ok to use identical ads for each but with different display and redirect URLs.
