From what I can gather, there are two ways to estimate the amount of traffic you can get from a keyword.

1. Use the Adwords Traffic Estimator tool.

2. Use Overture Keyword Selector Tool.

Yes, I know that the Google tool is supposed to estimate the daily traffic volume but sometimes I find it way out.

What you are experiences? Do you find the Google tool generally good or do you prefer to estimate traffic using Overtures Tool?

I dont actually use any of them for "traffic estimation" anymore

just run a campaign for a day and you get the picture of whats available

Shak, I agree that this is really effective.

One additional note: when doing this as a way to evaluate total traffic, you'll want to make sure that your actual daily budget is in line with the suggested daily budget for your keyword list - in order to ensue your ad is showing most or all of the time.

If the suggested budget is higher than you're comfortable with, then try streamlining your keyword list - with a focus on the most important, and probably the most targeted keywords.

BTW - usually, the more general a keyword is, the higher the daily budget will need to be in order to show the ad all the time.
