I have a campaign with 2 text ads. The problem is i want to compare the copy of the ads but the different ads copy are not being served on a 50/50 basis. i.e.
1 ad is being displayed 87% of the time with a CTR of 0.7 and the other dosplayed only 13% of the time with a CTR of 1.0. Is there a setting im missing or something to evenly distribute the serving of the to ad copies?

Have u tried creating two different ad groups?
as if u keep them in same group i think it wont show 50 50 as it will show acc. to CTR

I have tried the same keywords in a different ad group for the same campaign but google wont serve two ads with the same keywords or even distribute the serving evenly between the to groups...

in Campaign Settings, be sure to un-check the "Automatically Optimize Ad Serving" box at bottom-left of screen if you want them to rotate evenly.

Only one ad per account can be shown for any given keyword at a given time.

fclark - I have unchecked the auto optimize ads which i thought would then evenly distributed the ad, but obviously not. Google really do not explain things clearly.

Are you running on content network as well?

If you do, then one of your ads may be a better match on certain sites than the other ads, resulting in more impressions.

Please note that the percentages you see are reflective of the date range you're set to.

So, you will have to let the ads run for a full 24 hour day (defined as midnight to midnight PST) beyond the time you re-set, and then check for the date range of 'today'.

In other words, any date range that includes any time before you made the change will reflect the 'weighted' delivery, as well as the current 'even' delivery.
