A couple of advertisers have said to me that their ROI goes down when they include content results. At the moment Im not using content. My market is competitive with CPC around $5 so Im wary of what content would do to my ROI. Does anyone have any views on this?

The consensus around here is that you should not run ads on the content network.

** Waits for criticism **

Actually, the consensus around here is that you should track your ad campaigns and measure results/conversion/ROI with one of the many tracking programs out there. Then decide where and when to run ads. There is no general answer for everyone.

While it's absolutely true that there is no absolute answer, my experience of the content network is that the conversion rate was less than half what I see with search. Though it's been a while since I last had content turned on.

We must take this fact into mind that content ads are far more prone to illegal clicks and hence have less conversion rate
although i dont use it but wd like to know ur views for this.any useful results?
