Ad text shows in serps

A simple explanation of the following would be appreciated. It is something in general terms that I became aware of some time ago, but..

I was trawling through a few search engines today, checking indexing, etc, of a couple of our sites. In this instance I was on MSN.

When I typed in the name of one of our sites the organic listing in 3rd place showed part of the text used in one of my adword ads. The listing was for Amazon.

Click through the link to Amazon though and I cannot find any mention of my site - nor is my ad showing.

Why is this? I understand, of course, that sites are using adsense, but, as a user of adwords I find this scenario a little disturbing...

Did you look at the page cache to see if your ad was on the page when the spider visited?

Aha, logic...

Indeed, the page cache shows an ad that was showing on content a couple of months ago...

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the blatantly obvious...
