Since this question has gone unanswered for a few hours now, I thought I'd jump in with a suggestion to look at the information available Online from the AdWords program itself. Here are a few helpful links to get you started:
Look for the Common Questions and Sign-up demo on this page:
[adwords.google.com...]
Many other links and a searchable knowledge base on this page:

Also, you'll learn a ton by hanging out on this Forum!
I wish you the best of success with AdWords, should you decide to give it a try.

Does anyone recommend "Google Cash" by Chris Carpenter as a good reference to get started?
I'd much rather recommend "trial and error". Sometimes it just can't be beat; that and forums like this one...
Good luck.

Ah, just noticed that AWA expressed the same sentiment re this forum - guess I should have read ALL the way through..;-)
I have reviewed all Adwords information previously recommended to me. At the risk of appearing extremely dense.....although I don't have my own business, I could have a website on any number of topics and Google links ads to my site. When those ads get hits through my site, I make money. Is that oversimplified?
Chilly33, when you put it that way, it makes me think you're actually talking about AdSense, which is a different program. Please see the link below for more info on AdSense:
[google.com...]
VERY briefly:
AdWords: You are an advertiser who either advertises your own product or service, or you are an 'affiliate' of another site, and are paid by that site when you advertise, and send a user who has clicked on your ad to that site.
AdSense: You have a website on which you choose to 'publish' AdWords ads. When someone comes to your site and clicks on one of those ads, then you are paid a part of the cost of the click, by Google.
BTW, there is an very active AdSense Forum on WebmasterWorld right here:

Hope that helps.

THANK YOU AWA! ...I am interested in Adwords as an 'affiliate' of another site! Sorry for being a little 'slow'. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, where can I get info on how to get started?
Sorry to say that I'm not really able to assist you on this point, as it is something that sort of takes place outside the realm of AdWords itself - in that you will be working with companies other than Google. And my expertise is limited to the AdWords program itself.
You might want to go to your favorite search engine, though, and search on some related keyword phrases in the neighborhood of 'affiliate advertising', 'affiliate advertiser', and so on. ;)
And, of course, others on this forum may well be able to point you in the right direction.

But, if you've got some money to spend it might be a decent way to get up to speed quickly.
Know that the ebook alone is no-where near all the information you need to be successful though. It can help with understanding the general concept as a basis for learning more.
Hope that helps a bit.
