I am a British Business student seeking a 6-month internship to commence in February/March and would VERY much like to work for Google, ideally in an AdWords related post given my experience and passion for this area.
Rather than use the traditional channel (ie. the Google vacancy listings), I wonder if you guys have any particular recommendations, point of contacts (AdWords/Reps/HR) or anything that could lead me in the right direction.
Many thanks!
Use Hoovers online to find the department head of the section you want to work for, i.e. AdWords and then FedEx your resume to him. It will be read if you FedEx it.
Thanks for the site suggestion, I have not heard of that source before. I have successfully used the same strategy before. The company was trying to become paperless so I burned my resume onto a CD and tied it to a couple of helium balloons. The CEO opens the box and woosh, up comes the balloons. Who wouldn't at least then look at your resume?!
I am sure Google gets a sack load of speculative applications every day, so I am eager to try and make a strong impression from the outset. I just need to get the right person to send it to. AWA: any suggestions? ;)
Yahoo HotJobs was listing Google jobs the other day, my mommy sent me the link
Intriguing. The listings are a repetition of those on the Google site, however they have only just been posted in the past few days which is a good sign. Thanks to Patrick's ma :)

Ahhh, kmander, I can certainly understand why you'd want to intern with Google, and especially with AdWords. I worked pretty hard for months and months to get noticed myself - and well worth the effort, I might add.
I was kind of hoping that thread was not asking me specifically for advice, or contact names - because I am not really able to assist in this arena - and I really hate to disappoint.
So, while I admire your enthusiasm and spirit, and while I wish you every success, I am not really able to be of much direct help.
I guess my only suggestion would be to contact the UK office directly, assuming you were looking for an internship close to home, and see what develops. ;)
I wish you the best of success!
AWA
I even found a London courier who was willing to deliver me inside a box to the firms offices. The CEO opens the box and whoosh, up comes me with my resume in my hands! .....Thankfully, I didn't have to go that far! LOL
Thank you for your kind words AWA and I appreciate your hands are tied.

It's a little harder than you think ;)
