Is another advertiser bidding on your company name?

Hi,

Just a quick heads-up:

There's a new advertiser in the web hosting industry who is bidding on the names of other web hosting firms.

So (pretending for a moment that our company name is 'widgets') they're bidding on the term 'widgets' and using the text 'widgets' as the first line of their advert.

It looks as though they've scraped the data from dmoz's database.

So, if you're in the web hosting industry, you might want to search for your own company name and domain name, to check if they're doing this to you.

Best wishes, Andy.

Had an organisation advertising along side the domain name of one of our website just a few months ago.

The website is all things engineering; the advert was for Russian wives (I kid you not!)

I couldn't quite see the connection..

Prior to that competitors have advertised around our domain name. Fine, good luck to them.

My attitude has always been that if others have to advertise around our brand then all they are doing is helping reinforce it within the market sector. Cheers competitors!
