I want to begin to advertise on Google. It states that I must have a credit card or a debit card with either Visa or Mastercard logo on it to open an account with Google to begin advertising. I do not have either one of these.....am I out of luck and have to just use the other PPC's or is there a way around this? I spoke to somebody months ago at Google and they said the only way to send in a cheque was if I was going to spend $10,000 or more in a month. Any info pertaining to this topic would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance everybody.

All you have to do is open any checking account at any bank, and you'll get a FREE ATM/debit card with a VISA or MasterCard logo on it.

Good advice, its pretty easy to get a credit card these days or an ATM card with a V/MC logo on it that will work.

Welcome to the AdWords forum konaandcooper. Google will work out invoice arrangements but that is generally for advertisers who spend more than $10,000 per month who have provided credit references. I'm not aware of exceptions to that policy.

The prepayment requirements were changed a couple months ago. When you open an account now, you'll be prompted for a billing type. I've not tried the prepayment process yet, but I believe the restrictions on such a large amount have been reduced.

Payment options will actually vary depending on country and currency. Please follow the links below, from the AdWords FAQ, for more detailed info:

AWA,

I looked at this page last night:
[adwords.google.com...]

and there is no 'prepay' information on it if your in the U.S. If you're in U.K., then suddenly prepay info shows up. This makes it look like prepay isn't available in the U.S. at all.

Just curious...is there a practical reason why you don't have a credit card or ATM debit card--or if you do have one, why you don't want to use it for online payments?

Been using Adwords for over a yr now, and while it does work, it is pretty expensive for a small business and eats into our profit margin.

We have been working hard to optimize to reduce these costs.

Many of my competitors rank well, but we have struggled with Google.

The site seems to be very relavant in content, over 75 pages, and good moderate use of keywords.

Bottom line, we are lost as to what our next step is....

Comments greatly appreciated!
