for example if I take out a google adwords does googlebot spider the adwords, count it as a link and therefore help the rest of my site get ranked in the organic section.
and/or help in the general listing on google.

There is no link whatsoever between Adwords and organic listings. Promoting a new site through Adwords is generally faster than through the SERP's.
