Negative Key Words

Need some help in regard to negative adwords. I have two broad match terms. widget and widgets. I want to add -magnetic widget and -magnetic widgets because we do not carry those. I can't find any examples in the CP about how to set these up.

I tried adding -magnetic widget but when I click save there did not seem to be any thing that happened. What I mean is there seems to be no place to check what your negative key words are.

Do I need to add a bid price of .0 and the landing page that the broad match term points to?

My next question. If I add negative key words, does that put the campign into a review status?

Hope I have explained this good enough for you to understand.

Any help will be appreciated.

Noticed that no one has picked up on this one yet, and I just happened to be in the neighborhood...

Old_Timer, you'd add your negative by going to the 'Edit Keywords' link in the Ad Group view of your account. On the Edit Keywords page, over on the right, is an example of how you would create negatives.

Once you've added the negative keywords and saved the changes, you'll be taken back to the Ad Group view - and your negative keywords will now appear in your keyword list.

By they way, in your example you would create theme this way:

-magnetic

rather than this way:

-magnetic widget

In other words, you only 'minus' the word you don't want.

Do I need to add a bid price of .0 and the landing page that the broad match term points to?

Nope. You will not assign a Max CPC or URL to a negative keyword.

My next question. If I add negative key words, does that put the campign into a review status?

No, adding negative keywords will not 'trigger' a review.

Hope I have explained this good enough for you to understand.

Worked for me! I hope the answers do too.
