I'd love to have my display URL read "fullname.com" because that gives more info (and perhaps I won't have to write the full name in the tiny little ad anymore to qualify prospects).
Can I put a "doorway page" at "fullname.com/index.html" with shiny graphics and very brief info about us, with the graphic and link pointing to my "geographicalplace.com" pages? I don't want to do a redirect or domain alias at this moment (for other reasons) but I don't want to tick off Adwords staff if my destination url is really only a single glorified doorway page.
Note: I'd put a robots.txt exclusion on "fullname.com" so it won't affect SERPs.
But Google did not care about the different domains. During the editorial check, they would have seen that both domains displayed the same information (and I doubt if editors tell the engineers to apply a duplication penalty for PR purposes).
I don't think of doorway pages in context with PPC. They are used by other people to catch free searches. I can only recommend a 301.
Asking adwords-support would be worth it.

Agreed, although if you do, be really specific as opposed to describing a hypothetical situations as one must do in this Forum.
Or, since this sort of situation is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, perhaps it is best to simply create the Ad Group as you'd like it to be, and let it go through the editorial process.
