I am not referring to limit in an account.

Is there a limit on total number of keywords, that google can handle for adwords? The total number being the sum of all keywords from all advertisers.

Adwords is not file system based index like the main search index.. since adwords start showing up immediately and since the changes also go into effect immediately, these must be handled via a database, and databases have limits.

Does anyone know what (if) is the limit (or probable limit).

Thanks
SD

sdani, I seriously doubt that anyone on this Forum will have solid information for you on this one.

I've worked at AdWords for two years, and I don't have an answer to that myself. ;)

Welcome to Webmasterworld.

Since the Google database can hold at least 4 billion pages, one can assume that the Adwords limit is at least 4 billion. Google would love to have a customer who wants to test this. :)

I think there was an old thread about the maximum number that a certain database/web server/OS could handle, but I don't have a reference.
