First problem:
I have a campaign with 4/5 KWs, 2 of which could be described as 'popular'.
On the Campaign Management page, under the column 'Ave. Pos.' one of these popular KWs is showing a position of 7 or 8 on a CTC of 50c.
However, when I search for these KWs on G, the position came up as 20, or thereabouts. This search on G was done every couple of hours within one day.
With regard to the 2 less popular KWs in the campaign, the 'Ave. Pos.'was spot-on.
I am searching on G & also their 'search network'
Second problem:
I 'clicked' on one of my ads. to check that the 'link' was working OK. The 'click' never showed on the Campaign Management page, so consequently I haven't been charged for it.
Is this usual, (I wouldn't have thought so) - so what's the explanation?
Thanks

If you have clicked on an ad multiple times, it could be Google's fraud system that is making it so the click doesn't count. That is just a guess though. Have you clicked on the ad more than once?
C.K.

Remember that the position is an average so it is possible to have situations like this:
1. you ad is showing in lots of countries/regions and you are checking your rank in a country which may not represent the norm.
2. If you are broad matching, and your competition are not, then the exact phrase you are checking may be unusually competitive.
