What I don't understand is when this changes. It sounds like you have to pay by CC first. Then at some point, it sounds as though stop billing the credit card and just send you a bill at the end of the month. Is that how it works?

Not really sure, I've always been a 10k - 12k/month advertiser with AdWords. About 3 or 4 months of paying with my Amex my account rep called me offered a credit line of $20,000 that I could just be invoiced monthly for. So I went for that, I would much rather write a check than pay with a credit card every month. I didn't even know it was an option until she mentioned it though.
I've tried to pay for just about anything I could on one of these cards, including a full semester of college tuition. Had some nice free trips, too. ;)
I'd be interested in the Worldpoints option - I've received any number of solicitations for such cards, and supposedly the miles are usable on any airline.
From a pure business standpoint, writing a check is nice and clean, but it won't buy you much additional float (depending on when in the month your Adwords account is billed). I've got one account that bills at the start of the month, but appears on my credit card bill at the end of the month, with another three weeks until payment.
I don't know how fussy Google is about promptness on their A/R, but 6 or 7 weeks of float plus air miles seems like a better option than trying to stretch them. (Or paying them promptly, for that matter.)
wow Digitallv,
10k per month would be 6 free airline tickets (domestic) per year on AMEX.....
Heh, everyone keeps telling me stuff like that but the thing is I hate flying :P I like R.V.'ing, but there aren't any credit cards that offer frequent driver miles that I'm aware of :)
I just used the Amex because it was the most convenient... when the bill came in every month I wrote a check. Now I just write the check to Google directly.
