What does a high CTR and no conversions mean?

We are getting a good 9% CTR on one text ad and no sales. So, in your opinion, what does that mean?

My opinion of this problem...Do you agree with it?
I have a great text ad that gets attention and clicks, but when people get to the destination URL, there is nothing on the web page that entices them to buy.

If you don't agree with my opinion, then what can it be?

Sound like a very logical explanation and often a reason for non conversions. Just make sure the site gets improved :)

-You may be targeting the wrong people.

-Maybe your site is difficult for people to use (bad navigation, bad search or slow load times).

-High prices?

Also, this might help:

brucec, many people do not recognize payed links from the organic search results. They perhaps search for free information and your ad may seem to offer it. Try to make more apparent that you sell something.

On the other hand, if you decrease CTR, you will pay less for clicks, but still will not get any sale. So try the following as well:

  • Consider different or more specific key phrases. People often include words buy, price, discount, etc., when they do want to buy something.
  • Reconsider your landing page. It is often not the best idea to drive people to your home page. The landing page that describes a particular product and offers an order form may work much better.
  • Improve accessibility of your web site. An IE only web site with small font size, low contrast and JavaScript navigation may keep out as many as 20-30 percents of your visitors.
  • Improve usability and information architecture of your web site -- clear navigation, visual hierarchy, readability, etc.
  • Improve your web page copy. Good web copywriter can make a really big difference.
