Has Ad Rotation Changed?

Can't get new ads to rotate

Did I miss a change? I recently added a new ad to a couple of adgroups and edited a couple of existing ads.
These new ads are not being rotated evenly with the old ads so I am only getting 1 or 2 % exposure for the new text. It will take forever at this rate to determine if my new text has improved my CTR's.

Is this a new thing for Adwords?

Any help appreciated.

John,

New ads have to be approved before they are "released" to sites other than Google (other search or content sites). This means that they will be rotated over Google but not over the other sites hence the low percentage.

Mail adwords support if they can expedite the approval which takes anywere between 1 day and 3 weeks in my experience.

They are approved but only being shown very infrequently.

Just after I posted I stumbled over this

" When there are multiple ads in an Ad Group, our system will favor ads with higher clickthrough rates (CTRs), showing them more often than ads with lower CTRs in the same Ad Group.

When you create a campaign, optimization
is already selected...... Yadda, Yadda....

Which means that if this flag is set new ads don't get rotated as they have no CTR. No shows mean not CTR--- No CTR means no shows The Old catch 22.

I have unselected the GOOGLE "optimisation " and am hoping the ads rotate correctly.

I think this is another unhelpful helpful hand from GOOGLE.

John,

This should fix it. The optimization works in the end (like after a few weeks) but has some mysterious ways to get there. Mine is switched of in 80% of our campaigns.
