Identify Affiliate Status

How many of you actually do this?

I am an adsense user and have noticed that more and more affiliate adwords ads no longer identify themselves as affiliates anymore. Is this no longer a requirement or is it because google is not cracking down on it?

It's still required. Just report them - I'm seeing a fair bit of this sort of stuff as well.

If it is an obvious redirect through CJ, they will almost always pick up on it and pull the ads. Seems that if its a home grown aff program with URLs like webmasterworld.com/whatever/affid=skibum, these slip through sometimes.

Can anyone tell me why this is a requirement and does it affect the CTR?

I have no figures, but I'm imagining an 'Aff' in the text wouldn't significantly affect CTR.. after all, how many average joe clickers will understand 'Aff'!? Of course, it gives you three less characters in your ad text, so if that dents your ability to pull a CTR.. *g*
