Is there any news on the Netscape Web Offer box sponsored links issue?

It was discussed a couple of months ago in this thread:

[webmasterworld.com ]

I have a keyword phrase that's lucky enough to be featured every now and again. Yesterday I was stung for another 129 clicks (against usual low single figure clicks).

Clicks on a phrase link in a box labelled 'Web Offers' are not search quality traffic. The keyword phrase links sit on unrelated pages, so they're unlikely to be as good even as Adsense traffic.

Isn't it about time Google put a stop to this?

Call and make a STINK! Ask for credit back on those clicks!

I would.....

So maybe that's why there was about a 600% increase in clicks for some keywords yesterday.... Conversion rates weren't to bad, so can't complain though.

I wouldn't complain if the traffic converted.

I've sent an email to the support people - polite rather than stinky ...

'stinky' does not mean not polite. I try never to be impolite. But i do raise business-like, "stinks' on occasion....

I've had better luck with calling rather than emails in such cases...
