Getting Near the Top

Is it worth the increased cost?

I'm beginning an AdWords campaign for one of my sites. This is the first time I've gotten involved with AdWords, so I don't have any experience to speak of.

I know which keywords and phrases I'm targeting, so that's not a problem. The question I have is, how important is it to be the very top AdWords result for your keywords? For instance, I can save about a dollar per click on some of my more important keywords by settling for the third position instead of first. But is that a good trade-off? I know it depends on what you're selling and how many clicks you want. But if anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd appreciate hearing them!

Thanks,

Matthew

MatthewHSE, I just noticed that no one had picked up on this thread yet.

I'm probably not the right person to answer the question, but I'm guessing that the reason for no replies is that this subject has been discussed quite a bit lately.

I'd suggest doing a site search, and I'll bet you'll come up with a bunch of threads full of useful opinion/insight.

The bottom line, though, as you predicted, is "It depends!"

;)
