In checking one of my ad groups I noticed an ad group name looked like it was wiped out. It still shows as "active" but ther are no impressions or click registered. Looks almost like someone has place a white sticker over the name. This is tha second time I have noticed this. Any ideas what is going on?

Zeus661, am I correct is assuming that you mean when you are looking on the Campaign page, an Ad Group name appears blank in the list of all your Ad Groups?

If so, then I'd suggest going to the Ad Group itself and seeing what is (or isn't) there. For example, make sure the Ad Group actually has an ad associated with it. (BTW, deleted ads in an Ad Group, assuming you are choosing to view them, will be 'grayed out' - while active ads will have a pale color.)

I've recently spoken with a few advertisers who had no actual ad in their Ad Group. This seems to occur when they are attempting to delete keywords, but accidently hit the 'Delete' link next to the ad itself instead.

In any case - if you aren't certain as to what is going on, I'd suggest contacting AdWords support, and letting them take a look at the actual account.

As an aside, the designation 'Active' only means that the campaign or Ad Group is not paused or deleted. However, the ad may still not be running due to other concerns - such as disabled keywords, a campaign End Date in the past, a Max CPC higher than the daily budget, and so forth.
