Adwords ad not showing up

It's not my first ad, just the first to not appear

I've been running many adwords campaigns for various clients and I finally decided to run some keyword ads for my own ventures, and of course, they aren't showing up.

I set up my ads and paused them. I developed my site and when I was done, I activated my ads. The Google campaign manager claims they are active, but when I search for my terms, the ads don't appear.

As I said before this is by no means my first adwords campaign, in fact I was working on another project in parallel with my own and used the same method: create the ads, put them on pause, finished the site, and activated the ads. Those ads are showing up just fine, but mine are not. It's been over 6 hours since I activated them and I'm still not seeing them.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Any help resolving this matter would be great.

There are no ads on the KW I'm bidding on, so I don't think my bid amount is the issue. Unless I'm missing something. Does G decide I'm not bidding high enough even if there is no competition?

Just tested upping the bid for awhile, didn't help. I've sent a question to G about it.

I've done the same. Have set up 2 campaigns within the last 2 days and so far, no impressions showing at all and we can't get them up on the search keywords. Just the same as you, there's only a couple of advertisers on each keword. All old campaigns are OK.

Perhaps they are having to make some changes as a result of the new structures, so there's a big delay. If so, would be nice to have a notice somewhere on the Adwords account.

Often when you find this, the KWs are flagged by G as being of a sensitive nature, or one they have to review before letting them go live. As its the weekend, they won't get reviewed until at least monday.

I agree - any ad which keywords are sensitive ( meaning, would require that the visitor is at least 18 years old) have to be approved. But I am so sick of the poor email support Adwords offer - just call them 1-866-2GOOGLE - oddly, they have the nicest customer support I have EVER talked to.

No ads for a keyword might mean its a trademarked term.

Now one of the campaigns has started up (set up about 36 hours ago. Nothing sensitive in them. Probably just a glitch?

So I called 866-2Google, and it turns out my keywords were flagged for review. And I agree, customer service turned out to be really nice. Thanks for the help everyone!

A couple of quick points:

* Just to be clear, it is not only keywords that would require a visitor to be 18, that can be 'flagged'. There are a some keywords which are, in most cases, entirely innocent - but which must still be reviewed. These keywords often pertain to groups that are 'at risk' for one reason or another. So, as an example, keywords that involve 'infants', 'children', 'teens', may need to be reviewed before showing on Google.

If you think about it, the reasons should be obvious.

So apply the above test to your keywords, even if they are not obvioulsy 'sensitive' at first glance. Is it possible that the keywords could be used in an inappropriate context, even if you are not doing so? If the answer is yes, then there's a good chance the ads/keywords will need to be reviewed before showing on Google and/or partner sites.

* Sorry you're not happy with our email support. I'll pass this comment on.

* Equally, I'm delighted that the phone support has pleased you. As someone who works on both the email and phone teams, your comments are instructive.
