Hello
I'll introduce myself,as i'm not sure i'm in the right place here, kind of feel out of my depth.
This site was recommended to me by someone in startups.
I have recently started a childrens clothing website(loads out there i know)But being a(young:)) mother of three buying childrens clothes in notts uk is very expensive. On the net i found that low price clothes were mostly second hand and nice clothes were still expensive. So i sell ex-chainstore childrens clothes where you get the quality at a great price,I do not have a high profit margin as i did this to genuinly get clothes out to people who could not afford retail prices or like me hated paying it.
Anyway i've been working really hard at promoting the site for the last month and am thinking of joining adwords as the sales are comming in but very slowly. Finally(thank god) my questions are do you think adwords cost is going to be to high for it to work for me,i had a little play with it and my keywords came back that it would cost me 0.96 to be top, not that i want to be,but i bet i'll be looking at at least 0.55 to be up there.
And can a complete novice set up a successful adwords campaign?
Thankyou for reading this
Teresa

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, T. You're at the right place.

Looked at your operation. Great site. Solid e-commerce. Congrats.
(Alas, the rules here say you have to hide specifics about your situation on posts, so you should remove your site name.)

It's late afternoon in the US, so you might need to wait to get a response on this.

I would spend some time reading the posts in the Adwords column. You'll learn tons.

All of that said, many Adwords buyers prefer the third, fourth, or fifth position.

My 2 cents: I worried at first that AW was going to be too high, also. But if your site converts the leads into sales, you'll find AW is very cheap indeed.

my keywords came back that it would cost me 0.96 to be top, not that i want to be,but i bet i'll be looking at at least 0.55 to be up there.

It's all about the conversion rate. I don't know what yours would be (or what you'd need it to be for profitability), but my suggestion is to start small. Experiment with the minimum bid. You might find it does the trick. I only have a small handful of keywords that I bid more than the minimum on.

And can a complete novice set up a successful adwords campaign?

Yes. But allow more learning time than you think (say, ten times as much), and be prepared to spend a bit of money learning the ropes. It'll be worth it.

Hi T.
Welcome to WW you will fine a lot of support here and even more valuable info.
Arrrrr... Notts... I do miss it... Night life, bars, 5/1 ratio of women to men.... Living in the Park... blah blah....
Build your KW list every day and dont forget the negative words also.... oh yes and use spelling mistakes, lots of gems there.
Shame I didnt get to see your site.... put the url in your profile like many others here do, maybe we can help some more.
