In the USA, the minimum CPC is US$0.05
In Australia it is AU$0.09
With the exchange rate being between 0.74-0.79 US cents to the AU$1 this year, it means that we here down-under are paying a minumum of between 6.5 & 7 cents in US currency.
I *like* to think that for bidding purposes Google calculate it precisely (does anyone know?).
But for when there is no other advertisers, why I should have to pay more?
I do know that this issue is being examined at present, and your comments will become a part of that discussion.
By the way, you can open an account in any currency but your bank may then charge exchange fees - so do be careful of that. Best to ask in advance, I'd imagine.
And it's worth noting that once you've created an account, billing in a particular currency, that currency choice can't be edited or changed.

any updates?
Sorry - didn't see your previous post till now, gorsey.
No, no updates to report. In my earlier post, I really just meant to convey that the issues revolving around currency/exchange rate are being looked at. I didn't expect an immediate resolution or update. While this is not really my arena, my limited knowledge tells me that the 'currency question' is not nearly as simple as it might seem on the face of it.
In any case, please rest assured that your comments have been passed on to the team involved.
Also i suppose googles base currency is USD?
Yes, as a US based company, the 'base' currency for AdWords is USD.
