the campaign status showed "active", but no ads showed when I searched the keywords, what is the problem?

Is your daily budget high enough? If it is very low then your ad will not show all the time - it will only show as often as Adwords thinks your daily budget can manage.

I recently started a new account and the ads did not show until the next day. I emailed support and was told "It appears that your account was placed on hold while our Specialists reviewed it." It's not clear to me whether all new accounts are placed on hold or just mine.

I've noticed that Google is reviewing new ads more often than they used to. I've added or made changes to 3 ad groups in the last week, and all three were put on hold.
I don't know if it's because of Trademark issues, but I do know that certain keywords are flagged for review by an editor before they go live.
