I don't want to give away what industry I'm in, but a similar one might be power tools, in that with both industries, one could go to a store to buy the product. However, sometimes people shop online for the product. They both cost about the same.

Anyways, that said, what kind of conversion rates can I expect on adwords if I run listings for individual products at 5 cents each? I know this is kind of an impossible question to answer, but for this type of product, what are some decent conversions? 1:200 clicks? 1:2000? 1:20? I'm just trying to get a general idea.

I run an affiliate site, that looks like its own e-commerce site, but it directs all sales to the affiliate, so I don't know if this will effect anything or not.

Thanks for your help!

No one can suggest a conversion rate with even a slight degree of accuracy because there are too many variables to take into account.

I get conversion rates of 5 - 10% in a competitive area but I've put hundreds of hours into learning what works by testing and refining my ads and web-site. I estimate my testing cost me about $30k over several years but obviously I made a lot more.

The only way you will discover what you are looking for is to get your hands dirty, and part with some of your hard earned cash. Whatever conversion rates you get in the beginning you can probably double or triple with hard work, research and testing.

The great thing about Adwords is you can run multiple ads which makes testing a breeeze. One more word of advice, most new advertisers don't hang around long enough to learn the ropes. It takes persistence.
