buying an adwords e-book

should I buy one of those adwords books?

there are a few e-books that come up when you're googling for info regarding adwords.

The 21 steps, secrets to success, etc. etc.

Is it worth the 40-100 bucks for these books? Might they give me some insight that would save me 100 bucks down the road?

Or are they worthless?

I'd appreciate a recommendation for a book that might be useful.

I bought the 21 steps was I was starting out and was not very unimpressed - not big exciting revelations, mostly common sense.

The Google FAQs are OK, and there's a series of articles at the moment at SitePoint on Adwords.

I honestly can not take the credit here.

members such as vibgyor, ewhisper, AWA etc etc have so much adwords knowledge that it is actually frightening.

leave the books to 1 side, just spend 1 hour each day for 7 days reading, and you can write your own book :)

I think most of the killer tactics and techniques have been discussed in this forum, it's just a case of sifting to find it.

The most important thing as to any investment (be that time reading here, or money in buying an e-book) is to make sur you do something positive with the knowledge.

My tips for items to learn :

* Powerposting
* Dynamic titles
* Maximum numbers and housekeeping
* Match types
* Budgeting

A lot of AdWords eBooks are compilations from posts around many boards that have been tossed into a nicer format.

I've gotten emails and a few stickys (always from users with less than 3 posts) asking for permission to use my work (at least they were nice enough to ask permission). There are a some other users around I'm sure have had the same experience as they definately know their stuff.

Save your money and read it here directly from the source.

I've bought three or four Adwords books, and I already knew 99% of what they said...

... but the new insights in the other 1% made the purchases worthwhile.

I havenīt read any book, but the knowledge I have is already enough to cause me problems.

There are so many ways to organize the campaigns that more tips would just add to the confusion!

Dont bother! :) I bought one before I found this forum and really learnt nothing that I didn't already know. Seeing as your hear read and read, you'll learn much more than any google adwords book can teach you.
