What is everybodies experienceregarding Adwords account management? I currently use a contractor to manage my adwords. He does a good job. I was pondering the idea of doing it myself to save money. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience that they would like to share on the pros and cons of self management vs outsourcing adwords?

After hearing a webmasterworld member talk about his campaigns, and how he handles clients, and how many clicks he gets, i was stunned, and realised, it's a lot harder than it sounds, and understoud that in most cases it's probably not worth handling it yourself, if you don't have the time to really get yourself in to it.

No way would I ever take that on, I have a "friend" who has over 8000 keywords and his Adwords and Overture manager is a premium member of Adwords and a Platnium member of OV. Problems get solved much quicker as they have a personal account manager for google and OV. Not only that, but you could focus your time elswhere building the business.

I've got the time to do it. How do you find out the "status" of your manger with the diifferent PPC engines? Please keep going with the opinions. This is very helpful.

a good ppc bid manager will achieve the impossible with adwords/overture :)
nothing beats having a direct contact at the engines, nothing!

If the status questions was about if they are premium or platnium. I guess you could look at thier other clients or know that if there is an issue and it gets resolved in a second you will know. I think the minimum spend to be AdWords premium is like 10 grand a month.

Shak - thank you, I have had this feeing for a while too. Just need to find some sound reasons behind it to get back to my investor about it, seeing as it's up to the investor to make final decisions.
This is especially tricky as I'd like to also do OV as well as Google AsWords; with a limited budget it's hard to be flexible once you've commited to an agency and their minimum spend targets per SE; not per entire campaign.

Does anyone know an affordable bid manager that utilizes adwords? I was reading about Go Toast and it did not mention adwords. We only only spend about $2000 a month on ppc (adwords & overture & a little on looksmart. Any thoughts or ideas?
