Hi, I'm new at this whole affiliate thing, and have heard it can be very profitable. I tried it once and tried using google adwords, but they shut down my add 2 times because it wasn't generating enough clicks. (oddley though I never got billed 5 dollars for that, OR the 5 dollar activatin fee) Anyway, I was down and a little depressed after that, but all it took was an e-mail that got me inspired to give this another shot! Anyway, I would like to ask what type of keywords I should be putting into google? And if it is normal that the keywords only have a few clicks a day? I also don't know what alot of the acronyms are for this stuff either, so if you use an acronym, please also include what it stands for. Execpt for CTR, I know what that is :) . I guess I should tell you what type of affiliate program I am interested in trying so you will know what types of tips to give. I was thinking about a satellite dish affilite program. I have heard it is one of the best. Well thanks for the help everyone!

Satellite Dish affiliate program? Wouldn't recommend it if you are a newbie Google AdWords user. Simply because the keyword is so competitive (has around 20 AdWords listings for all keywords related to your affiliate program).

If you want to learn the ropes of AdWords, I would suggest an affiliate program with a maximum of 3 to 5 competitors. This will allow you to experiment a lot.

Anyway, the best way to get clicks is to put your keyword in the title and body of the advertisement. If you have some dough to splurge, bid high so that you can get into the top 3 position. Now keep changing the ad copies till you get one with the maximum CTR. Within a couple of days, you will see that your CTR will shoot up. Once that happens, reduce the maximum CPC.

You can also try bidding for not-so-popular keywords and get some inexpensive clicks.

Well, I don't have much money to spend, so I can't do that, at least not yet. What type of affiliate program would you recommend for a beginer? I also know that keywords should be specific to what you are trying to sell, because if someone searches for something and you site isn't what they are looking for, they will ignore it anyway. And if they do click it they more then likley won't buy from my site, and that just cost me a click. Is that right? It sounds right. I'll check commision junction to see if there is anything not so competitive. Thanks!

What type of affiliate program? Difficult to answer. My favorites are software affiliate programs. But again, what works for me may not work for you. So I suggest you browse through some of posts under "Affiliate Programs" forum
