Hello Everyone

I am new to the ecommerce game and this will be my first holiday experience.

I sell products that are perfect Christmas gifts etc...

Can someone please tell me is its worth spending those extra dollars running adword ads over this next month?

Does it really get those extra sales or am I just throwing money away?

If yes, how often should I run them? During the week? Weekends? 24/7?

How about any other advertising venues that has help you guys during the Christmas Rush?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Categorically yes would be the answer.

Christmas rush tends to start around Thanksgiving, so if you are going to do it, better get doing it FAST.

You need to run them 24/7 to get the best performance from the campaign, pausing a campaign is a bit like standing up after sitting on your legs for a while.... it will function, but not as well as if you let the circulation go all the time.

JoeHouse, I agree with webdiversity. But then, I would of course, as I am an AdWords employee!

Christmas rush tends to start around Thanksgiving, so if you are going to do it, better get doing it FAST.

The timing does not allow you a lot of time to come up to speed. So I would:

* Mine this forum for the wealth of great information contained in its threads

* Read the AdWords FAQ thoroughly. OK, I'll admit the FAQ is not nearly as entertaining as a Patrick O'Brian novel. But reading that novel won't help you make money. Unless you are Russell Crowe.

* Start out on the right foot. IMO, this boils down to using targeted keyword, specific to what you have to offer. Then show a carefully crafted ad about the same thing. Use multiple Ad Groups to achieve this for all of your products or services.

If you decide to give it a try, I wish you every success!
