Hi everyone,
started a fresh campaign a few weeks ago and I have 84 clicks for 11,500 impressions - terrible, I'm under 1%. I use only phrase and exact match terms. I have tried negative keywords and it does not seem to improve things. I can't figure out for the life of me why I am getting so many impressions for these phrases - yes, there is competition for the product I am selling, but its not a huge market - there are maybe 6 or so others using these same phrases on adwords to sell this product. Thus, my ad is continually on page 2, and i get very few clicks during the day. My clicks and orders dont start to come in until after 4 pm EST when my competition has used up their daily budget - I'm guessing. I would like to have my ad on page 1 during the daytime too, and improve the overall CTR. I do not want to post the keywords publicly, but if someone would like to assist, I could share them via the sticky mail used here. Maybe that is the only way to solve my problem.
Any and all suggestions appreciated. I did ask G for help too - I'm sure I'll get some generic response that won't help at all. Yes, I tried their keyword tool and it didn't give me any relevant clues for additional keywords or negative keywords.

Thanks much!

Steve

If your ad is on page 2, you only get an impression if the searcher actually goes to the page 2 results. I would say that it is probably your creative that needs to be worked on assuming that the ad is relevent to the search term.

Thanks Red for clearing that up. My ad is very targeted to what the searchers are looking for, and even offer a better price than my competition - thus my confusion.

I can't figure out for the life of me why I am getting so many impressions for these phrases...

mcbsolutions, impressions can happen pretty darn fast. Keep in mind that there are at least 200 million searches done a day on Google alone.

If did my math right, that is at least 2315 per second. So if your keyword is very commonly searched, you can accrue immpressions very quickly indeed!

Then, when you figure partner sites into the equation...
