Ive been using Adwords for about 2 years and in that time google have offered a uk vresion however there does not seem to be an option for older users to change their currency and bids to reflect this. We are a uk business based in the uk and targeting customers in the uk yet we are bidding in dollars and cents. Hope there is a way round this without opening a new account.

thanks

liamgt, I am sorry to report that this is just about the only thing that you can't change in your AdWords account.

I'm afraid the only way to do it is to create a new account.

Sorry to disappoint.

Awa,

what if Liam was to move to premium agency situation, with account management by your lovely UK team with payment on account?

Shak, and liamgt

Well, I certainly didn't think of that!

Good call, if liamgt wishes to advertise at that level, or is already doing so.

I'm afraid the only way to do it is to create a new account.

but when you create a new account, that means you have multiple accounts, and this is not allowed isnt it?

I had this problem as well, had some campaigns set up in Canadian funds by mistake and didn't realize it for a while.

The biggest problem I had with this is that you have to start a new campaign - which means you lose all your big clickthrough rates. It's a pretty heavy penalty for just switching billing methods.

Thanks for the feedback guys,
Ive set up a new uk account this morning and have started to move ads from one the old account to the new one. Should take me a few days as im deleting the ads on the old account as im adding them to the new one. Will Google have any serious issues with running 2 accounts at once (temporarily)?

Hey liamgt, sorry for the extra work entailed in your decision to change currencies. I've passed on comments from this thread to the product development team, so that they are aware of the difficulties.

Will Google have any serious issues with running 2 accounts at once (temporarily)?

If you hear from Google on this matter, explain what you are doing and why. I'm certain that you'll be given time to finish.

As you most likely know, Google's concern is to avoid more than one ad showing for the same advertiser for a given keyword search. So if you can avoid this, while operating the two accounts temporarily, all should be well.

Don't forget to ask for a refund of the second activiation fee (£5). They probably wouldn't proactively offer it; but ask anyway.

Google will not have a problem with two accounts while doing this as this is exactly what they told me to do.

A WORD OF WARNING
You may not want to leave the US$ system, why?
I found that if you often use the mimimum bid price, then the currencies other than US$ will not allow you to use the lowest possible bid price as Google set the mimimum bid price to something higher than the US$ price.

This can lead to you paying 10% or more for your advertising.
